Forty Thieves Solitaire Games
Forty Thieves solitaire refers to a large number of predominantly two-pack solitaire variations with a vast range of difficulty levels and balance between luck and skill. The original Forty Thieves game itself dates back to the nineteenth century and is notoriously difficult to win, with an average win rate of less than 10%, and hence is not for the faint of heart or those adverse to frustration!
The many other variations are usually considerably easier and hence are often more popular. While you can play these games with ordinary packs of cards, due to the large number of cards involved and the size of the layouts it is generally easier to play Forty Thieves solitaire and its variations on a computer.
A good variation to start with that is fairly easy to complete is San Juan Hill, where the eight Aces are placed onto the foundation piles before the rest of the cards are dealt. The best game for this variation and many others is without a doubt Pretty Good Solitaire, which has the largest range of Forty Thieves variations and a great auto-complete feature to quickly move sorted columns to the foundation piles, which is a great time-saving feature in particular for this type of game.
